An Abundant Leader has an open mind and heart, practices our values in action, and believes that our strength comes from the community and that the “gifts” we share are the solutions to the problems we face.

Giovanni Miranda
Abundant Leader 2020
My name is Gio, I am a Salvadoran native. I began my community work through Cosecha in 2018 with the drivers licenses for undocumented campaign. In 2019 I joined NUBE as a volunteer member where I was able to develop my capacity in conversations, aiding others, and being empathetic towards my neighbors in East Boston. I have been a part of various community events, bringing information and joy to members of my community. In the year of 2021, I was a part of NUBE as an abundant leader where I learned more about the civic work that our organization is involved in as well as how to help our neighbors create political power.

Kathy Henriquez Perlera
Abundant Leader 2021
Reflecting on my experience as an Abundant Leader, I can confidently say that I have grown as a person. I have done a-lot of self-reflection throughout my training and noticed that I had views and opinions that were unconsciously created and enforced by capitalism and white supremacy. With the Abundant Leadership training, I was able to deeply understand the vision of the village filled with Abundant Leaders that NUBE has, and I want to continue being part of the change and being part of the village that this has come to. As an Abundant Leader, I can now say that values and actions will always be influenced by justice, solidarity, resilience and abundance.
-
Deysi Gutierrez

Deysi is a young immigrant Latinx who has been active with NUBE since 2019 and was recruited through our canvassing program. She trained to be the lead messenger and develop our communication and social media plan. Deysi has now transitioned to be the co-coordinator of the Eastie Mutual Aid and is now supporting the Charlestown pilot group.

Karina Flores
Abundant Leader 2021-2022
Born in El Salvador, I migrated to the United States of America at the age of 5 years old. The change was difficult but through years of study I was able to graduate from a College University. I have been with NUBE for over one year and since then I have been able to have the opportunity to learn more and educate myself on how to better help my community through door knocking, phone booths, civic booths, and trainings. NUBE has shown me how to work as a team in order to create a healthier ecology with other community organizations, allowing us to accomplish common goals. Through NUBE I have been able to put my experience to work in various forms and hope to continue doing so in the future.
